About Us
Our DirectorsHere is a bit about each of us. Next time you come out to one of our fundraisers, please be sure to stop and say hello. Carol Jackson- President/ Founder/ Foster Mum
Carol grew up with dogs...a Welsh Springer X and a Dachshund...and a couple Lhasa Apsos that her mother loved. As she grew up, she gravitated to wards any dog that she met, big or small, gentle or aggressive. In 1989 she and her husband adopted a five year old cocker spaniel named Buie. Buie was an extraordinary dog who was an ambassador for her breed. Since Buie's death from cancer at age 11 1/2 in 1995, the house has never been without a cocker spaniel. Buie holds a place in Carol's heart that has developed into a love for the breed. Carol has dabbled in conformation with two of her dogs obtaining their Canadian Championship titles. Demi, her senior female has won Best Veteran three years in a row at the BC Cocker Spaniel Specialty Show in Cloverdale BC. After that, she worked with Demi on obtaining her Canine Good Citizen Certificate (CGN) through the CKC. Working full time as a nurse in Vancouver, she has her hands full with her husband, canine
family, and rescue. Lynne Sturm-Director and Foster MumLynne comes from a circus family. Her earliest memory was putting her head in a dog's mouth to try to copy her mother who regularly put her head in the Lion's Mouth as part of the Big Top finale. It just did not seem fair to little Lynn that the lion would get all the attention, but Spot was treated like a stray cur by her cruel father. So one dark night, Lynne ran away with Spot to make her fortune as a fortune teller. Several years later, Madame Lynne foretold her own fortune in that she would always care for dogs, and here she is.
Nancy Beaudoin- DirectorOne of my fondest memories is that of a family pet, he wasn’t a cocker spaniel but it’s how this dog lover came to be. He didn’t start out as our pet, he was a yard dog at a nearby business.. In a very short period of time he became my best friend never leaving my side. The owner finally relented and told us to keep him.
Then came my grandparents Cocker Spaniel. He wasn’t as patient with children but it never deterred me. Julia Philp-Director-Newsletter
With very limited breeding I have produced BISS/BPIS American and Canadian champions and multi-group placing dogs. I recently volunteered for this organization as an effort to give back to a breed that has given me so much pleasure for so many years. Sandra-Secretary DirectorSandra grew up in Guyana , South America with 5 outdoor dogs. After emigrating to Canada , it was several years before her husband Orin rescued an American Cocker spaniel – Shugz. Shugz was found at the side of the highway by a trucker and Orin became her owner when the trucker could no longer keep her. After Shugz’ sudden passing in October 2006, they became the proud owners of 8-year old Pim (from CSRBC). Today, Pim is joined by 1-year old Sassy (another recent adoption from CSRBC). Sandra recently became a volunteer for CSRBC. In her “day” job, she is employed by CMBC (public transit in the lower mainland) in Human Resources.
