The Rainbow BridgeAnd now some stories about our beloved companions who have gone on before us.
This page is dedicated to our rescues who have blessed us with their sweet presence, and their constant kisses. Each one has touched our hearts in different ways. They have gone on to the Rainbow Bridge to become healthy again. Just this side of Heaven, is a place called Rainbow Bridge...
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, we believe that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and they are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; one who was left behind. Then comes the day when one suddenly stops and focusses in the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the rest, flying over the green grass, legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again..... And then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together....The other side of the coin, of course, is that we are left here, missing our small friends. We will never forget them, and look forward as much as they do to the day when we get to take a walk together once again. Lucy Licorice
Lucy Licorice must have had a hard life until she met John and Jamie. She came to CSRBC in Feb 2005 from the Richmond SPCA as she was turned in by her owner. This is from her adopters....something that her original owner never experienced or he would not have given her up. "We loved her greatly and she loved us right back. She had a special sense about her that we have never seen in any other dog. A sense we can only describe as "soulful". She was around 10 yrs old. CSRBC is very sad at her loss especially as she was fostered by Carol and family.
Rusty1997-2007 Rusty came to CSRBC in 2000 at the age of almost 3 yrs. He had a difficult life and only he knew how difficult it had been. A kind woman from Richmond, who took him in, brought him to Vancouver Island to be examined by Dr Breadner who went above and beyond in her assessment and care of him. We were lucky to have found a forever home for him with Ken and Carolyn in Langley. Although he retained some issues he was well loved by Ken and loved going to the cabin with him. These are some words from Ken:
SonnySonny came from somewhere that caused him to be a biter but he was such a sweet dog. CSRBC did all we could to rehabilitate him from special training from Dana to an assessment by Roger Mugford. He still was a biter. We found a special home for him in Phoenix AZ with other cockers who HAD the same problem but were now loving dogs. We knew that Sonny could be that way too.Off he flew one spring day to Arizona and there he stayed for 3 1/2 years. Sonny DID become a loving dog. Sonny didn't bite again. On Jan 22, Sonny became very sick and much to the heartbreak of his family, he had to be put to sleep. His passing has saddened all of us. We think Sonny was 9 yrs old. He leaves behind, Pattie, Don, Sadie, Winston, Punkie, Daisy Mae, Abby, Boomer, and Cissy. His Canadian family include Dana and Dave, Carolyn, and all of us here at CSRBC.
AlexAlex came to us in Early 2000. He found his forever home with Lori and her family. He was dearly loved by the whole family but especially by Robert and Ryan. Alex went to the Rainbow Bridge on August 14, 2003. Run free my friend.
Freddy (MickeyTeddyFreddy)With the assistance from Linda Lathrop of COCKERS Sanctuary and Rescue in Southern Washington, Freddy was surrendered to us from Eastern Oregon in January, 2003 and made his way via a couple of foster homes to his forever home in Langley, BC. A tragic accident took him away far too early for his time. But while he was here in Canada he was at his best and loved the most, especially by April.
Shad-OShad-O was surrendered to us by a family who had very young children. He lived with his foster mum, Marlou, for a couple of months before we found him a forever home. But he wasn't as happy there as he was with Marlou and her family..canine, feline, and human. So, off he went back to stay forever with Marlou. He had a wonderful rest of his life on 5 acres of wondeful property in rural Maple Ridge.
JojoJojo was a troubled little dog who was born in China. He was surrendered by his owner as he and his wife were having a baby. He was a grumpy but lovable little guy and he was loved very much by Gunda and her husband. Although they only had him for 5 months, he left a big hole in their hearts the day he had to be put to sleep. It was thought that he had a brain tumor. Be happy Jojo.
