Since August of 2009, 1021 of you have been following Oliver's struggle to regain his health. You have been rooting for him and visiting often to mark his valiant progress. We are now delighted to tell you that Oliver has reached his goal weight.
He could never have done it without the volunteers who surrounded him with love and hope, without the volunteers who generously gave money to help with his swimming lessons and the special medication and food he required.
Because of you, Oliver now has a chance at a new life and is ready to go to his forever home. Thank you again, to all his fans all over the world

Aug. 13, 2009. Move over Richard Simmons! Do we have a project on our hands or what?
Oliver was taken in by the Burnaby SPCA, but is now with us. Say hello to Oliver!
Oliver is morbidly obese and will need a diet and exercise regimen over the next few months.
We have K9H2O donating 4 free swims for him.
|
Remember this?
He will need special food and gentle exercise at first to bring him down to his goal weight of between 30-35 pounds.. Right now he weighs 67 pounds.
|
...And Now!
Oliver has reached his goal of 36.5 POUNDS as of January 8, 2010. Read about it here! |
August 16th, 2009. Today will be his first swim! He is settling in nicely in his foster home. He is actually more active than we supposed he would be. He is a very happy boy.
Here we are, first dip in the pool. He managed to stay afloat and did very well. Below is a video of his first swim. |

| August 23, 2009. Oliver has lost 0.8 lbs in one week with CSRBC, a total of 5.3 lbs since he was picked up by the SPCA.
He is moving around all the time in the foster home and now, his tail wags.
Today was his 2nd pool session. At their suggestion, we are doing measurements on him. I measured his chest and it is 33".
I measured my boy Max and he is 19.5"
Oliver loves his swims. This weight loss is a slow process, as it should be. We will be updating this page every couple of weeks |

September 3, 2009. Oliver has much more energy, whether it is from being on thyroid meds and/or regular swims we don't know but we like it! He did a total of 15 laps! Two, then three, back to back, with no rest.
Here is his swim from Aug 30. He is now SOLO when he swims. He really seems to enjoy himself.
He was weighed on September 3rd and now weighs...dah..dahdah!! 58.1 lbs. and he is actually getting a "waist!" So he has lost 9 pounds. |

He tries to "dance" at meal times and at this rate, he will soon be The Fred Astaire of the Cocker Spaniel world!
|
September 25/09
Oliver weighs 11.9 pounds lighter at 53 pounds.
He actually has a tail now and we can see it wagging.
He can RUN now.....unbelievable.
He can lift his leg to pee instead of squatting.
He loves his swims and has several more appointments up to November.
We would love to see him adopted soon. He is a lovely little guy.

A generous donor has stepped forward to pay for Oliver's continuing swimming classes. However, his special food needs to be purchased as well as his thyroid medication. Also, there are plenty of other dogs out there who need our help! Your generosity is appreciated. |
